I have a fresh install of Kali (yes, completely new, I've even reinstalled the OS just to be sure) and these are the steps that I take: There are many guides, tutorials and even videos for how to do this, yet I've spent the past 5-6 hours trying to make this work, and I'm completely stuck even though I'm not a novice user. I'd like to first clarify that this is required to make this work for anyone else reading this, most guides don't seem to mention at all what the end result should be, namely that these two modules vboxguest and vboxsf (at least I don't think there are any other modules involved), and only then will the mount command work when these are loaded. The first module, the "main Guest Additions module" compiles.
I'm trying to install the GA (Guest Addons), but this fails when compiling the "shared folder support module", I believe this is the vboxsf module. Guest system: kali linux 2.0 (64 bit) allocated 2 GiB RAM, 1 CPU, kernel version: 4.0.0. Host system: Virtualbox 4.3.28_Gentoo r100309 on Gentoo stable, kernel version: 4.0.5-gentoo
